Scientific Coordinators at the Marine Environment Institute

The Marine Environment Institute is a national resource with a government mandate to develop and disseminate knowledge between researchers, authorities, and decision-makers. The institute's main task is to assist authorities in the marine environment area with scientific expertise and to produce interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary analyses to support the improvement of the marine environment.
We are looking for two scientific coordinators to strengthen the institute's analysis and synthesis activities. The work is broad and may include analyses of the causes of the state of the sea, societal factors affecting the sea, the structure and processes of marine management, and possible measures to improve the marine environment. As an applicant, you may have a background in political science, economics, law, natural sciences, or other disciplines that can contribute to the institute's mission.
The Marine Environment Institute is located at Gothenburg University. The institute has scientific coordinators, project leaders, and communicators. As the assignment requires scientific breadth, experts from both Swedish and international universities and research institutes are engaged in projects and assignments.

Job Responsibilities
Your task is to translate scientific information into decision-making support for the management of the marine environment. The work mainly involves conducting projects and leading working groups to develop knowledge bases and recommendations that can contribute to improving the Swedish marine environment. The work may also include carrying out assignments from authorities and participating as an expert in international working groups and projects.
As an applicant, you want to contribute to analyses and syntheses related to the sea and marine environment-related societal information, while also appreciating providing concrete support to marine management.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant field. We are looking for researchers with strong scientific credentials and experience collaborating with authorities, projects related to the marine environment, and working in interdisciplinary contexts. Previous experience working within relevant authorities and civil society is an asset.
As a person, you have a high level of ambition. We expect good analytical skills and experience in leading projects and working groups.
The work involves many contacts both internally and externally, which requires social competence and the ability to communicate and collaborate. As the work involves communication with diverse target groups, documented proficiency in both Swedish and English is required.
Personal suitability will also be considered.

The position is permanent with a working degree of 40-50 percent or as agreed. The position as a scientific coordinator can preferably be combined with a research position at a university or college. Individual salary setting applies. Start date according to agreement. There is an opportunity to work part of the time remotely.
